Christmas in September
Here in the Editorial Department, at Adspace Networks, we are always working ahead of schedule. We just put the finishing touches on our Breast Cancer Awareness initiative and have set our sights on the Holiday Gift Guide. You may be asking yourself, “Christmas in September?” Yes, you read that right. It’s just how we do things around here and we are not alone.
Target, Toys-R-Us, and K-Mart have already entered the holiday game with new campaigns and initiatives.
In case you missed it, do-gooder brand TOMS announced that they have partnered with Target for the limited-edition holiday collection, “TOMS for Target.” The collection will hit stores November 16 and feature everything from the signature canvas shoes, to hoodies, scarves, jewelry, and more.

Toys-R-Us is experimenting with a new in-store approach that promises to be more shopper friendly. They announced that stores will feature “Here’s What’s Hot” and “Gift Express” shops to ensure a more seamless experience as well as the introduction of online layaway.
Not one to shy away from Christmas commercials in early September, K-Mart tried to tell us their spot was not a Christmas commercial. It’s merely a reminder to use their layaway program in time for an event in late December, “like maybe your entire family is having a birthday on the same day.”

It’s not just the Editorial Department who’s started celebrating. Our Sales Team has its jingle bells on and is currently scheduling advertisers for holiday timing. Don’t forget that in December, mall traffic is up 45% and Cinema Lobby traffic is up 40%! Now that’s a lot of consumers! What are you waiting for?
